Russian Membranophones
There were only a few Russian traditional membranophones in the course of history and today we practically don't know a single one. But there is an instrument which has been in the world for a long time and a version of it was in Russian traditional music. It is a Buben an equivalent to a what you may know as a tambourine. It is classified as an idiophone (any percussion instrument which is not a drum) but what does differ it from a tambourine is that it has a membrane, which makes it both an idiophone and a membranophone.
